The City of Greater Sudbury has launched a new program at Queen’s Athletic Skating Oval – SkateShare Sudbury offers free ice skate and helmet rentals to residents using the Oval.

Outdoor skating enhances well-being and brings the community together. This new initiative aims to make the activity accessible to everyone by allowing people to experience skating without needing to invest in equipment.

The pilot program will be offered on Saturdays, from 1 to 5 p.m., from January 24, 2026, until mid-March (weather permitting) on a first come, first served basis.

Due to limited parking on site, residents are encouraged to use GOVA Transit: Route #25 West End Local or Route 104 Azilda Chelmsford (Stop 1190 or 1220 westbound or Stop 1195 eastbound).

This initiative supports City Council’s strategic priority to create a healthier, more vibrant community.
