The 2026 CAA Worst Roads Campaign is currently active, with nominations open until April 17, 2026. Greater Sudbury residents are being encouraged to participate to advocate for better infrastructure and potentially secure provincial funding for repairs.

      Current 2026 Nominations (Sudbury)

Local community efforts are currently focused on several high-traffic roads that residents believe are in the worst condition. Preliminary “top five” contenders for Sudbury in 2026 include:

-Notre Dame Avenue: Highly nominated for its poor condition over a long stretch.
-The Kingsway: A frequent nominee for major repair needs.
-College Street: Noted for significant deterioration.
-Lorne Street: A major thoroughfare identified by residents for its poor surface quality.
-Regent Street: Frequently cited for potholes and maintenance issues.

Greater Sudbury has not held the “Worst Road in Ontario” title since 2007, when Vermillion Lake Road was recognized.

      How to Participate
Residents can nominate roads daily to help them gain visibility and potentially climb the provincial rankings.

Voting Period: Ends April 17, 2026.

Where to Vote: Nominations are submitted through the official CAA Worst Roads website.

Rules: Users can nominate multiple different roads per day, but can only nominate the same road once every 24 hours per email address.

Incentives: Participants are often entered into draws for prizes, such as free gas for a year or dining gift cards.

Community leaders emphasize that a unified voting strategy—focusing on the same few major roads—is the most effective way for Sudbury to break into the Top 10 and attract provincial attention.

I have travelled and roads here in Sudbury are below average. Good initiative.

Now this is the oldest discussion I’ve ever heard. I’ve listened to complaining about roads all my life. What’s new. Nothing ever changed and I don’t think it will either. Maybe it’s not a negative outlook but a realistic one.
