It just occured to me as I am walking along, the day is mild and peaceful. This question may solve the puzzle. Because if we would not fly in a plane that’s all electric, we would seriously need to ask ourselves why.

      Do we trust batteries?

I was thinking about how batteries are always dying. The cordless drill, the flashlight, the remote control, as long as Ive been alive batteries have always been dying. These days it’s cell phones and e-cigarettes, but the concept remains the same.

It’s a good discussion topic. I have to admit I would never fly in an electric plane. What about you?

I was chatting with my cousin about this recently in person, and they are from Alberta. They are in total agreement that batteries cannot be trusted in the long run

I’m not sure I could put my trust in an all electric airplane- heck, I’m skeptical of an all electric vehicle in our northern Ontario climate- but hybrid, sure! Always nice have to have a back up plan.

Hybrid sounds nice. To be honest, I didn’t know what it was, I went and searched it (I live on a rock where the plants don’t grow)

It’s electric and gas, that might be the best of both worlds

I’m just revisiting this topic. And I imagine that batteries for airplanes are probably different than the batteries for cars or any other type of batteries.

I suppose that it does have a longer “shell life” and that the airplane would have chargers in them should they need that.

        But what do I know??

I think I would prefer a hybrid type of airplane one that uses both

I guess it’s because I’m used to what they’re currently using and to be honest I don’t even know what they’re using now.

In all reality when I do fly I don’t know if it’s an Electric plane or if they are using some other source of energy.

As long as they are using the right energy source to get me to my destination. And I believe it would be important to have some energy source that doesn’t pollute our beautiful skies and earth.

I just want to get my destination. I would imagine that the airplanes have backups for backups, at least I hope they do.

My friend has purchased a hybrid vehicle and tells me his expenses for fuel were 80 dollars in 2 weeks and now are 60 dollars in 3 weeks. He estimates the higher cost of the vehicle will pay for itself over time

It’s a good point. I think in my case I probably would consider a hybrid. I don’t drive that much now and when I do, I am going quite a few hundred kilometres so my electric car would last me quite a while, but the cost of it would probably not outweigh the use of it. I’d have to look into it in more detail, but I think it does depend on how much usage you get out of it.

No chance. Combustion engines have battery chargers built in. Alternator.
