The Bel Canto Chorus is a volunteer choir of 55–70 members from all walks of life—students to retirees—drawn from across Greater Sudbury. Our roots reach back to the Sudbury Philharmonic Society, and in 2025 we proudly celebrated our 50th anniversary as a community choir. We are a nonprofit, registered charitable organization that provides a welcoming place for people who love to sing together and gratefully accepts tax receipt eligible donations in support of our work. We present four public performances each year—two in December and two in May—featuring a wide range of musical styles including sacred, classical, modern, folk, and show tunes. Our concerts often highlight guest soloists such as Jamie Arrowsmith, Pamela Teed, Joey Niceforo, Amy Godin, Nicole Glover, and Dylan Maddix, as well as ensembles including the Young Sudbury Singers, the Jack Broumpton Trio, and the Elmer Iseler Singers. We have also performed with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, the Penderecki String Quartet, and at the Sudbury Musical Festival’s 75th Anniversary Gala. At the end of each season, we share our music with local retirement residences, performing selections from our recent concerts. Rehearsals take place Tuesday evenings from September through May, 7:00–9:00 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Place. An annual membership fee helps support rehearsal space, our Music Director and accompanist, and the purchase of music. We warmly welcome new members. Vocalists are invited to schedule a voice placement audition in January or August with our Music Director, Susan Urquhart. Come sing with us.
